With the release of the new model in a model series, quite a few bikes go into secondhand ownership. Our range of highquality accessory components usually goes back 10 to 15 years or more.
We usually dedicate this section to a specific motorcycle model series. In this newsletter, we would like to address a topic that can affect all motorcycles and brands that are entering their second round as used bikes.
The Suspension
Works unnoticed. In secret. Often until nothing works.
If you have found your dream bike on the secondhand market, you may be lucky and "get" one with a Suspension that still works properly. You then unconsciously get used to the "new" motorcycle, which is just the way it is. You will only become aware of the condition of the components if you have the opportunity to ride several bikes from the same series and realise that there can indeed be noticeable differences in handling.
Incidentally, this phenomenon is particularly noticeable to riders who have been loyal to their machine for many years. The gradual deterioration of the chassis condition is not noticed due to the familiarisation effect.
Use generates wear.
Heavy use causes heavy wear.
The condition of a Suspension is determined by the duration and level of use, because, as always, use causes wear. But also: heavy use causes heavy wear.
A wellfunctioning Suspension offers reserves and therefore safety. Worn, used Suspensions are no longer able to do this.
Then the only solution is to replace the Suspension.
