A look back at 2017

Wunderlich triumphs in the Reinoldus Endurance Cup 2017

A rough start to the championship

For the ninth time in 2017, the always increasingly popular METZELER Reinoldus Endurance Cup (RLC) started in the Nürburgring. Four six-hour races and one eight-hour race are a demanding task for team and material. In the endurance race series, always carried out on the Nürburgring, 38 teams compete rigorously for points and prize money.

For our Wunderlich team, start number 410, this year, Thilo Günther (currently the most well-known German road racer), Frank Hoffmann (our managing director) and Sebastian Klettke (twin-valve mechanic in the Wunderlich Service Centre) sat on our BMW S 1000 RR. The three experienced racers started in Class 4 of the endurance class, in which three riders each ride on one racing bike. Calculated from the first of the five runs, our team had to accept a total failure of zero points due to a technical defect. Doubly motived and with a lot of dedication, we were able to more than offset this small achievement during the course of the season. With all four remaining races, the Wunderlich Motorsport team brought home victory and thus collected in the end 80 points and the overall victory in the endurance class. But a championship like this not only requires an experienced team of riders but also a Boxer team of the same calibre, composed of Wunderlich employees. The meticulous assembly and approval of the racing bike was conducted in close collaboration with our development departments and our Service Centre.

We congratulate our riders and the many helping hands in the background for their great performance and we are really looking forward to the coming season!

Fischereihafen-Rennen 2017 – We weren’t there to fish!

In 2017, the Fischereihafen-Rennen in Bremerhaven entered its 60th year. This mean not only is it the oldest, but also the largest motorcycle road racing even in Germany.

A thoroughly successful Whitsun weekend for the Wunderlich Motorsport team comes to a close.

With two victories in the “Class 1 – Fishtown Superbike Open” on Whit Monday, Wunderlich rider Thilo Günther rode our S 1000 RR Piranha in the 60th Fischereihafenrennen in Bremerhaven through to a thoroughly successful end for the Wunderlich Motorsport team. Our specialists managed to coax the BMW engine over 230 HP!

Things went perfectly in “Class 2 - Twins & Triples” as well, the class for the largest two-cylinders and fastest three-cylinders (racing bikes with slightly over 200 HP) on our R 1200 R with 130 HP, which reached its target in third place.

We constructed the machine using the design of the R 90 S as a tribute to the legendary R 90 S, which caused a big stir in the mid-70s with its design in Daytona orange! We’ve put together the highlights of the weekend for you in a fast-paced video!
