Our passenger seat, which is unique on the market, offers the same high standard as today’s premium rider seats in terms of ergonomics, cushioning properties and, above all, size. The cut of the cover, the elaborate stitching and the craftsmanship of our saddlers create an appearance that integrates wonderfully discreetly into the design of the BMW R 1300 GS – despite the seat being a generous 70 millimetres wider than the standard version. At the same time, the significantly larger surface area reduces sitting pressure, providing noticeably greater comfort for your behind.

Why do we do this?
Quite simply because many customers ask us for it. Especially those who miss out on enjoying motorcycle tours and journeys together simply because the comfort of today’s standard passenger seats is suitable at best for a ride to the nearest ice cream parlour, but is otherwise unbearable.

We manufacture our seats with a specific, distinctive and exceptionally ergonomic 3D contour. One special feature of our passenger seat is the support contour integrated into the front section of the seat, which provides additional secure support when braking. With everything so perfectly integrated, riding is relaxed and active. And there is no doubt that relaxed seating provides an additional level of active safety. On our ThermoPro rider and passenger seats, the seat-surface temperature in direct sunlight during high summer is up to 25°C lower than with conventional cover materials.

AKTIVKOMFORT seat with adjustable Smart Plug & Play seat heating
Smart Plug & Play: This seat with comfort heating replaces the original seat. The original seat must also have been equipped with seat heating, and the motorcycle must have the corresponding power supply.
Before fitting the seat in the usual way, only the electrical connection to the motorcycle’s onboard power supply needs to be established. This is done using the matching pre-assembled cable – Plug & Play!
The desired heating level can be individually selected as usual using an easily accessible switch located on the right-hand side of the seat when viewed in the direction of travel: Off, heating level 1 or heating level 2. The rider is informed via the onboard menu whenever the passenger-seat heating element is switched on.

The AKTIVKOMFORT seat-heating element consists of a robust fleece into which a fine yet exceptionally tensile-strength and resistant stainless-steel filament heating wire is integrated in numerous loops. This elaborate construction, designed for durability and resilience, provides even, exceptionally pleasant and optimum heat distribution. It noticeably increases seating comfort while also providing the flexibility required for the heating element to compensate permanently for the substantial stresses caused by the movement, stretching and compression of the seat cushioning when mounting the motorcycle and while riding.

Because the requirements of riders and passengers differ, BMW specialist Wunderlich manufactures its AKTIVKOMFORT seats with dedicated contours for each. The rider and passenger contours differ in detail to meet their respective requirements. Both benefit from the proven, distinctive ergonomic 3D contour. The shape and inclination of the elaborately constructed seat core support an ergonomically advantageous and natural pelvic position.

The carefully engineered construction reliably prevents the cushioning from bottoming out. Sitting pressure is distributed evenly across a larger area, resulting in a noticeably lower specific pressure load on your behind. Comfortable! The ergonomic shape of the special foam also relieves the pressure-sensitive coccyx.
The seats provide perfect support as well as active and secure control during fast riding, particularly when braking. Everyone knows the situation: under heavy braking, the passenger suddenly pushes forward from behind, forcing the rider to brace themselves while simultaneously having to steer, perhaps in an already critical situation. With Wunderlich’s specially developed support contour, these alarming moments when braking are a thing of the past.
