Ilmberger Carbon
The processing of carbon, especially for motorcycles, has a name: Ilmberger. That's why we have been working with the specialists from Bavaria for many years. The long-standing personal friendship between the two managing directors, Frank Hoffmann and Julius Ilmberger, promotes regular exchanges of numerous technical ideas. The close connection between Wunderlich and Ilmberger even extends to Wunderlich's motorsport department. Our endurance machines and our Pikes Peak racing machines are, of course, equipped with Ilmberger carbon components.

Ilmberger Technology
Ilmberger uses a specially developed prepreg, known as pre-impregnated fibers, i.e., pre-impregnated carbon fiber matrices. The processing is done in an engineering manner according to the specific component load to be expected. The experienced Bavarian specialists size the fiber volume and define the orientation of the individual fiber layers. The matrix is then hand-laminated without bubbles with a lot of experience. After curing in the autoclave, Ilmberger carbon components meet the highest demands and stresses. The aerospace material plays out its full potential with up to 70% weight savings compared to the standard part and with its specific stiffness-to-weight ratio, the form always follows the function. To protect the valuable components, the surfaces are doubly protected (even the non-visible backs): First, a special protective plastic coating is applied. The parts are finished with an elaborate clear coating that creates a deep gloss and emphasizes the aesthetics of the carbon fiber composite structure.
