BMW R 1300 GS: A motorcycle is an emotional thing, especially when it's an icon like the BMW R 1300 GS.
BMW has reinvented the world of GS with compelling design, technology, and safety features, setting a new benchmark. At the same time, the Bavarians have taken the opportunity to significantly differentiate the four model variants and sharpen their profiles. Compared to the previous models, the impressive lineup offers noticeably more power with reduced weight! That sounds promising. That is promising!
Less is more - they say.
Less is more, of course, does not apply to the performance of the new flagship: the pure technical data is known, and here we focus on the essentials: 1,300 cubic centimeters, 145 horsepower at 7,750 rpm, and 149 Nm. No doubt, it can do everything better than the 1250.
But already at its debut at the end of September in Berlin, the motto "Less is more" became apparent. The BMW team brilliantly succeeded in the design. The first impression was that the new one was remarkably compact. The almost delicate-looking beak, in which the distinctive X-shaped LED matrix headlight nestles, combines with a powerful curve with the tank fairing. The dynamic radiator shroud closes downwards. It looks very clean. Clear edges, clear shapes. But no sensory overload. The same can be said for the rear, whose auxiliary frame is made of die-cast aluminum and is bolted to the main frame - it all looks pleasing. The same goes for the new Flyline: it is characterized by the moderate up and down of the transition from the seat to the tank. Because the R 1300 GS shows fewer corners and edges than its predecessor, its appearance is tidy without being boring, dynamically taut, full of energy, and extremely adventurous.
So there it stands before us: a motorcycle that is thoroughly well-designed and constructed.
The compactness of the bike was only made possible by the technically sophisticated concept. The gearbox was placed for the first time under the powerful Shiftcam boxer engine, concentrating the mass of the overall center of gravity and optimizing handling. The concept also saves weight. All in all, the new GS is a full 12 kg lighter than the "old" BMW R 1250 GS.

With the Trophy package, BMW now introduces an impressive, sporty-oriented, genuine off-road bike in the Top Class portfolio. The Bavarians also marked their claim in this class, one that has not been plowed yet, not even by the off-road bikes of comparable competitors. Finally, off-road riders find an adequate and powerful bike, with which BMW connects to the tradition of off-road sports machines from the late 60s.
Even though the role of the R 1300 GS Trophy as a true off-road athlete for the off-road community is clear, BMW has given all model variants the Enduro riding mode as standard. In addition to the familiar Rain and Road modes, there is also an Eco driving mode that supports environmentally friendly driving.
Safety features and an absolute novelty.
Completely new are the Riding Assistant with Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Change Warning (LCW). These assistance systems can make a significant contribution to the protection of us motorcyclists. They are available for the first time as standard.
